Vantage Foundation has partnered with Hands of Hope School for the Deaf to deliver inclusive, barrier-free learning environments. Hands of Hope, founded in 2010 by Sophaphone Heuanglith, provides free education, housing, meals, and medical care to deaf students, empowering them with both academic and vocational skills. Concurrently, Vantage Foundation—established at the McLaren Technology Centre in the UK in 2023—brings its expertise in driving social-impact initiatives, having previously supported programs such as Grab Indonesia‘s Wiramudi Grab women’s driver initiative Vantage Foundation. Together, they aim to amplify awareness of the needs and potential of deaf children in Laos, fostering a society in which every child is seen, heard, and valued.
Challenges Facing Deaf Children in Laos
Many deaf children in Laos remain out of the formal education system due to pervasive social discrimination, high school fees, and a critical shortage of teachers trained in sign language and deaf education. According to national surveys, approximately 2.77 percent of Laos population lives with a disability, yet reliable data on children with disabilities is scarce, contributing to their exclusion from mainstream schools. As of 2017, only three special schools for children with disabilities existed nationwide—one each in Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang, and Savannakhet—leaving vast rural regions underserved.
About Hands of Hope School for the Deaf
Hands of Hope School for the Deaf was established to counteract these systemic gaps. Under Sophaphone Heuangliths leadership, the school offers a holistic education model combining sign-language instruction with academic curricula and vocational training. Students benefit from full scholarships covering tuition, boarding, meals, and healthcare, creating a nurturing environment where they can learn without the fear of stigma or financial hardship.
A Community of Belonging
“In our school, we don‘t just teach language – we help our students discover their voice, their confidence, and their place in the world,” says Sophaphone Heuanglith, highlighting the school’s focus on social inclusion and self-empowerment.
The Partnership: Vantage Foundation & Hands of Hope
Recognizing Hands of Hope‘s transformative impact, Vantage Foundation has committed to amplifying the school’s reach and resources. Through joint awareness campaigns, fundraising drives, and volunteer engagement, the partnership will enhance teacher-training programs in sign language and expand vocational workshops tailored for deaf youth.
“Hands of Hope represents the kind of impact we aim to support through the Vantage Foundation,” remarks Steven Xie, Executive Director of Vantage Foundation. “We are proud to stand beside Sophaphone and her team to help break down barriers and create lasting opportunity for these children”.
Expected Impact and Future Vision

Times are tough for the rupee as it again slipped to 95 against the USD towards the end of April 2026 after some gains due to the RBI-led interventions early this month. The depreciation is largely attributable to surging crude oil prices. The prices climbed to their 3-year high over the US-Iran conflict. On April 30, 2026, the rupee opened at 95.02 mark against the USD, sliding 0.2% from its previous day’s ending at 94.84 against the greenback. As the day progressed, it slipped further to a new record low of 95.32 against the USD, beating the earlier fall of 95.22 in March 2026.

In the latest news that further establishes India as the destination for gold, the data issued by CareEdge Ratings demonstrated the country’s never-ending love for the yellow metal with a record investment surge of approximately 40% of overall consumption in Calendar Year 2025. This is arguably the highest in recent times. The ETF inflows alone added 37.5 tonnes, surpassing the combined investment of the last ten years. According to the ratings agency, geopolitical uncertainty and record prices made people quickly move away from jewellery.
